The Network Administrator is responsible for the ongoing stability, security, and performance of the organization’s network infrastructure across multiple locations, including a central manufacturing facility and distribution centers throughout Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Saskatchewan. This role plays a critical part in ensuring reliable and secure connectivity that supports day-to-day business operations, communication, production systems, and data integrity across all sites.
- Maintain, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network infrastructure across all company locations, including the central manufacturing facility and remote distribution centers.
- Install, configure, and support enterprise networking hardware and software, including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless access points.
- Ensure reliable WAN and LAN connectivity to support seamless communication and business continuity between locations.
- Administer and support virtualized infrastructure, including VMware ESXi servers, virtual machines, storage, and system performance monitoring.
- Implement and maintain network security best practices to safeguard systems and data against unauthorized access, vulnerabilities, and cyber threats.
- Administer network access controls, permissions, VLANs, and configurations in accordance with company standards and security policies.
- Monitor network performance, systems logs, and security alerts, proactively identify and resolving issues before they impact operations.
- Assist with disaster recovery planning, backup connectivity strategies, and redundancy solutions to improve system resiliency and uptime.
- Document network architecture, configurations, standards, procedures, and troubleshooting processes.
- Coordinate with third party vendors, internet service providers, and technology partners for support, escalations, and infrastructure projects.
- Provide advanced technical support for network-related incidents and collaborate with internal IT staff and end users to resolve issues efficiently.
- Participate in infrastructure upgrades, hardware refreshes, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance network performance and security.
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network administration, preferably within a multi-site enterprise environment.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and firewall technologies.
- Hands on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including policy management, VPN configuration, and threat prevention.
- Experience supporting enterprise-grade networking equipment and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and cloud-based systems.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issue.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide technical support users remotely and in person.
- Self-motivated with ethe ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to distribution centers across Canada as required.
- Industry certifications such as Network+, CCNA, or Palo Alto certifications (i.e. PCNSA, PCNSE) are considered assets.
